A Bronx Personal Trainer Needs A Referral Marketing Strategy

by admin on June 15, 2013

It is a must for personal trainers.  You must ask your current clients for referrals. If you aren’t, then you are letting your own walking, talking billboards go anonymously. However, you cannot just flat out ask your client for names.  All  personal trainers need to have a strategy for working the referral track.  Get introduced to the right people.  Figure out who the neighborhood influencers are and encourage them to share their experience.

The first thing you can do is Offer them a free assessment or session.   Chances are that if you have struck up a conversation to this point about fitness, they have expressed an interest in getting in shape.  Thus they will want to have an assessment to see where they measure up.  An assessment can be done with some straight up strength and flexibility evaluations or you can put them through a workout and see how they progress.

Next, give them more than you would give to other new members.  Go beyond the idea of providing an extra session.  Consider giving them an inexpensive, but useful piece of equipment, such as stretchbands or a jump rope.  You will then be able.to prescribe workouts they can do when are not with you, their dedicated Bronx personal trainer.  Of course, when friends hear about their workout, who’s name is going to be mentioned? Exactly!  One key to going above and beyond, do not an ongoing service that you can’t sustain as business grows.

Finally, be dedicated to this process.  Realize that it only works if you follow through with it.  If a Bronx personal trainer can secure an influential community member, the referral network they possess is valuable.  Your name will be mentioned over breakfast meetings, business lunches, dinner parties, and cocktail hours.  Then when you cycle back to offering a free session, you can encourage your client to bring a friend and chance are they will think of the person they were just speaking to at their event.

It is hard for a personal trainer Bronx to always be selling, but it is the reality of the career choice.  You are hustling for your own clients.  Sometimes that hustling comes from your own happy clients, while other times it means starting with a brand new client.  Remember, before beginning a program with a new client, be sure to have the client fill out a complete health history form.  Also,  be sure that the client has received approval from their physician to begin a physical fitness program.
